This 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible was a drivable show car when it arrived at our garage but the damage was well hidden. the work began with replacing center floors, lower seat pans, inner rockers, front torque boxes and toe boards. Latter we moved toward the rear frames, cross members, taillight panel and trunk floors also some minor repairs in the convertible top drain area . The only other damages we found were the front right apron and radiator support. you will see in the photos that I used an aftermarket radiator support and completely modified it to look like a 1964 1/2 with battery ventilation louvers. On the rotisserie it was time for grinding, scraping and lots of wire brushing to get rid of the old undercoating and paint preparing it for a fresh coat of epoxy primer and seem sealer followed by Lizard Skin ceramic under coating. The complete finished body shell went for about four weeks to be painted at Monkey Business Custom Body & Paint in Grosse Ile Michigan . As we disassembled the car the owner took piles of parts home and sifted through them deciding which to restore and which to replace. A very difficult and time consuming process but what a great way to save some money and be more involved in restoring your car. The painted car came back looking awesome and ready to reassemble were looking to finish on June, 1.
